- My mandate is to equip the general populist with ways in which they can prevent Mental Illness and promote Mental Health so that persons can live their best lives free of mental illness and achieve their full potential and be a productive member of society
- As a Health Education Officer, I’m tasked with developing appropriate programs for different segments of the Guyanese population that is based on the promotion of Mental Health and Prevention of Mental Illness
- Some of which are, Mental Health Training for Teachers throughout Guyana, Mental Health Focal Point Training for Nurses, Mental Health Training for Students at the Wesleyan Bible College among others
- Development of the curriculum for the Guyana Nursing School, and developing manuals on topics related to mental health, (The Gatekeepers Manual for Suicide Prevention, Mental Health Unit 2021)
- Further, as Social Worker I’m tasked with providing counselling services with persons that visit the Mental Health Unit on a daily basis
- These roles provided me with administrative and human relations skills as well as significant interpersonal capabilities.
