With 7 years of professional experience in education and 4 years in leadership, Annastaysha has significantly contributed to the Ministry of Education's mission in Guyana, focusing on providing equal educational opportunities. Her role included curriculum development, planning schemes, and delivering lessons through collaborative and independent work.
Annastaysha is a fast learner, adept at working autonomously when required. She was also a Programme Officer at ChildLink Inc., where she managed and oversaw programmes implemented by the organization. She planned, organized, and managed programme-based activities while coordinating with stakeholders such as the European Union, the Ministry of Human Services, and the Ministry of Education. In November, she successfully planned and managed a high-profile programme in collaboration with the European Union, featuring the EU Ambassador and the former Georgetown Mayor as key speakers. Her work focused on aiding the diversion of children at risk of coming into contact with the law and participating in monitoring and evaluation reports to ensure programme effectiveness.
As a part-time research associate, Annastaysha has conducted qualitative and quantitative research on educational and political policies, collaborating with local and international agencies. Over the past 2 years, she has supported 2 PhD candidates and 3 Master's students through literature reviews, policy briefings, and editorial work. She holds an Associate Degree in Social Work, which allows her to apply her skills in connecting with people. She is also a final-year Bachelor's Degree in International Relations student, where she is deepening her understanding of international and regional affairs and a first-year student in Public Policy and Governance. In addition to her educational background, Annastaysha serves as a trustee for the newly commissioned Region Six Tourism Association Committee, promoting sustainable tourism initiatives through monthly meetings to enhance tourist sites in Region Six. Her leadership skills extend to her being a member of Toastmasters International (University of Guyana Toastmasters Club) and a recent participant in the National Youth Parliament debate as the Minister of Labour, where she engaged in policy debates, programme development, and strategic planning, contributing to national discussions on economic issues.
